The Doctor and his Dalek (princess)

So the kids were amazing this year and of course were The Doctor and a princess Dalek. (sam was the 10 regeneration of course)
Since there is no princess dalek I had to create one. It took A LOT of tulle and had stitching but it worked out amazingly. That and little cloak to keep her warm and well it just look plain ol awesome.

For your enjoyment:

Seattle.....

Well, I suppose its time I share whats been going on here. I wanted to wait until I told my work to announce it. So here it is....

We had taken a trip to Seattle in January and it was a fun family trip with the intention of introducing the city to Tom as he had never been. We thought one day we may move up there. He fell in love with the city, as did I. I lived in Bremerton from the ages of 17-20 and always wanted to move to the city.

We came home and found out we were pregnant and though that it was a sign that we were staying in Reno. Well, as you can see, circumstances changed and we began putting more thought into a move. Tom soon got word that St.Marys (his employer) had got bought out and it is uncertain if he will keep his pay grade, let alone his job. This made our decision a bit easier.  We sat down and talked about some more and spent many hours in thought and we have decided that with me graduating in December and how unstable his job is and the job market in Reno, that now was a good as time as any to go. Sam will be in first grade so its really the start of his schooling and we wont be ripping him from his friends in the middle of school as it would be if we waited a few years. The job market for someone with my degree is plentiful and really, Seattle is our happy place. We really felt like it was home. Everything about that city is us and our family. Our kids could not be more excited. Sam loves it there and if it were up to him we would have never left!

We know its going to be hard to leave our friends and family, but we know great things await us there. It is an easy 12 hour trip by car or a quick flight back to Reno. We have gotten a ton of support from our family already and will continue to need it as we begin this adventure.

The move is not planned til January of 2013 as that is when our lease is up and we can make a clean move. Tom and I are planning a trip in October to pick out a place to live and start applying for jobs. I plan on keeping everyone updated on our move through the blog, so please stay tuned so you don't miss a thing!
For now we will enjoy our last summer in Reno and spending time with everyone before we go.

Here is a little montage of our trip this year... and some of the amazing things that will become our home!

How amazing is our universe?

I've been studying the Universe lately and the more I learn, the more it just astonishes me. I feel like I missed out on so much, simply by not having an understanding of the universes vastness. Here is a video that pretty cool from and interview done by Time magazine with Neil Degrasse Tyson. (Astro Physicist and one of the smartest men around)

Rough Waters

Well its been a rough couple of weeks. We found out we were pregnant on Feb 9th, It was shock and surprise and yet still somehow exciting. We figured we were about 7 weeks. We went to the doc and and the first u/s only dated us at about 4. Then with continued u/s the baby continued to grow at a slow pace. Were not quite sure when but the baby had stopped growing. We knew the end was near and we tried to greive. I was to go on March 9th for another ultrasound to confirm. On Saturday March 3rd, I was laying in bed and began to have some weird cramping. I thought hmm. this can and cant be normal. I was only spotting a bit so I didnt think too much of it. Well the cramps got worse and I went into the bathroom because I felt I had to pee, and bam, a giant clot had passed, I called my mother and she stayed on the phone with me. It turns out that I was in fact going into full on LABOR in my bathroom, the contractions were every minute and they hurt like a son of a bitch, and after each one I would pass more clots. By an hour I had passed about 2 pints of blood. It was very painful and I would not wish this on anyone. Sunday I mainly rested, I had a hard time even staying awake, and the pain was still intense. I called the doc first thing monday morning and after arguing with the nurse about going the ER, we were able to see the doc at 1. He took one look at me and my fever and knew something was wrong. He did a quick ultrasound and saw that I had retained most of the placenta and was having a possible infection and could be turning septic. So off to the hospital we went for an emergency D&E, while I was in the room waiting for the surgery to begin, the pain was getting worse. Eventually the surgery began and I awoke nauseous and of course tired. Today I am home bruised and resting, Im on bed rest for the next few days and trying to recover both physically and emotionally.

Its really hard to understand why all of this happened. I feel like It was hit after hit, I lost my wedding diamond out of my ring on our anniversary ( march 1) and I couldn't help but laugh, what more could go wrong... boy was I surprised that just two days later Id be in so much pain. So not only did I loose a baby, I lost my diamond all in one week. Also we have to watch my blood levels due to the anemia and auto immune disease as well ( NO TRANSFUSIONS)

This whole experience has of course caused some changes with the family and home dynamics, We decided that for right now it will be best if Sam would go to public school. We are very lucky and are zoned for one of the top rated schools around. He has had one week and LOVES it. I feel like hes excelling and will be able to adjust well. This means Lilah gets some one on one time with mommy, she even had her first real manicure at a nail shop :)

And with talking to my professor, we decided that it would be best to drop one of my classes for now and re take it again soon. I am still on schedule to graduate soon, just may take an extra semester. :( But I must do whats best for my health and family. This is tough work and I feel like I am strong and I can get through it.

Everyday I know just how lucky I am to have such a supportive husband, mother, sisters and friends. I am lucky to have my two beautiful children as well. We will see what the year brings, but for now.... I rest.

New things

So Seattle was amazing, We loved it so much and cant wait to go back. In fact one day we hope to move there. I am also getting ready to graduate, won four addy awards and oh ya.... IM PREGNANT. I thought I was further along, but Im only  in my fifth week. We are still worried,  we have yet to see a baby. We have seen a sac twice, once at do and another at ER, I go in again on Monday and its going to be a very LONG weekend. I definetley am nauseous and crampy, which is good. Im hoping for a fetal pole and or yolk sac on monday. Somthing to ease my mind.

Hello Seattle!

Wow its been a whole month since I have blogged. Things got pretty busy with the holidays. Then at the start of the new year I stopped my steroid treatment. Its been 8 very rough days! I knew I would have to come off of them, but I didn't know I was going to have withdraw symptoms and pain and depression. I know Ive been under attack of sorts emotionally as well. I'm feeling overwhelmed with my duties as a mom, a wife, in ministry and I don't know what the future holds for me in ministry either. I know its changing but how? Its all very stressful right now and I'm sure the pain is not helping, but man it plain ol SUCKS. No better word to describe how I'm feeling.

What I am looking forward to are a few things. First is we are taking a last minute trip to Seattle! My kids and Husband have never gone and it was a quick decision, its been a while since we have taken a family vacation, but we are very excited. Michael and Ashleigh are coming with us, so that will make the trip way more fun. We get to experience it as a family. I can not wait to breath in the "ocean" air...( its the sound and not looking forward to the Tacoma Aroma) and see the beauty and feel like perhaps I can finally decompress. Decompress from the semester, the holidays, the steroids, all of it. I need to breathe.

This song has been so fun to sing while we wait, and Sam loves looking at the photos, deciding what will be his favorite thing.

Also coming up in Feb, I get to go to Texas to see my little brother Graduate from the Air Force. I miss him a lot ( I think Sam misses him more) and even though I know I will be a bit stressed for the trip, I'm looking forward to seeing him and the new man I'm sure he has become. It will be a proud moment as his big sister.

Also, Tom and I received two date packages from our parents for Christmas. One to Tahoe to see a show and stay the night on our Anniversary. And another at the Peppermill here in town..did I mention both include babysitters! SCORE.

These are things are keeping me excited when I'm feeling BLAH. Im trying to spend time in the Word as well. But Im finding music is for now, my peace. If you liked this song, check out some of OWL CITYs other songs, They amaze me
